A Wabash chaplain will be the newest judge to take the bench of the Wabash County Superior Court. As IPR’s Stephanie Wiechmann reports, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has appointed Amy Conner Cornell to the court.
A seat on the Wabash County Superior Court was left vacant in June when Judge Christopher Goff became a state Supreme Court Justice.
Amy Conner Cornell’s background includes a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, a law degree from Indiana University, and a master of divinity from Princeton University. She has also clerked for a state Supreme Court justice and worked as an administrative law judge for the state’s workforce development agency.
Cornell is now serving as a chaplain for White’s Residential and Family Services, a religious non-profit organization in Wabash that says it offers social services like foster parenting and substance abuse recovery. It operates a junior/senior high school in Wabash and a residential treatment center for “troubled teen girls.”
Goff, whom Cornell will succeed on the Wabash County bench, is a board member of White’s.
The governor’s office did not say when Cornell will be sworn in.
