Republican incumbent Kelly Mitchell will remain in office, after being Democrat challenger John Aguilera.

Mitchell was first elected as treasurer in 2014. She also worked in the office for seven years before that. She highlighted her experience in the office during the campaign.

“I have said throughout this campaign that if you look at Indiana as a quilt you see that the threads of the treasurer’s office reach every Hoosier every day,” Mitchell says. “And I have said that my goal is to make those threads glow.”

She has recently worked to expand the state’s College 529 plans and expand the new ABLE Indiana program, which helps Hoosiers with disabilities invest.

The treasurer serves as Indiana’s chief investment officer. Democrats haven’t won an election for Treasurer of State since 1974.
