Kokomo Mayor Not Running For Fourth Term

Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight says he’s not running for reelection for a fourth term.  In December, the Democratic mayor became the city’s longest-serving mayor.  He says one other mayor was elected to three terms, but left 13 months early.

Now Goodnight says he doesn’t want to be part of an election made up of people running for the wrong reasons.

“Sometimes you have people run for office, whether it be the mayor’s office or city council, that are former employees that didn’t get the promotion they wanted, things didn’t go their way, and you can run for the wrong reasons and I don’t want to be a part of that.”

Before becoming mayor, Goodnight served two terms on the Kokomo City Council.  He says he wants to finish some already announced projects in the city with the 11 months left in his current term.
