Good news comes as a surprise sometimes. The unemployment rate for Iraq- and Afghanistan-era veterans – while higher than the national employment rate – appears to be falling. The American Legion holds its national meeting in Indianapolis at the end of August. In Indiana, the state Legion has 100,000 members and is among the leaders in the efforts to make sure that veterans get the help and benefits they’re entitled to.
