All Wayne County Schools To Close For Three Weeks Over Coronavirus
All school buildings in Wayne County will be closed for three weeks, beginning on March 23. The county has multiple school districts, but all will adhere to the same closure schedule set by the Wayne County Health Department.
In a statement from Richmond Community Schools, that district says the closures “will minimize any exposure in large groups and will allow plenty of time to have all buildings and buses cleaned.”
According to Richmond’s Pal-Item newspaper, area superintendents asked that a county-wide schools closure be postponed by a week so plans could be made. Since there are currently no COVID-19 cases in Wayne County, the health department agreed to the extra time.
County officials say besides scheduled spring breaks, all districts will get to decide how the rest of the days are handled. For some, that could mean e-learning.
