COVID-19 Spread Rapidly Increasing In Indiana

The spread of the delta variant of COVID-19 continues an alarming trend of increased infections in the state.

Wednesday the Indiana Department of Health reported 1,248 new COVID-19 cases, 12 new COVID deaths, and a seven-day positivity rate of 6.5 percent, up from 6.3 percent on Tuesday.

Delaware County reported 13 new cases Wednesday, with no new deaths and a 4.6 percent seven-day positive rate – up from 4.5 percent on Tuesday.

Delaware County still has a Blue Level COVID Spread rating of 0.5.  A total of 30 counties have Blue Level zero or zero-point-five COVID spread ratings – that’s down from 40 counties, just yesterday.  Blue is the lowest rating on the three-point COVID-spread scale.

47 counties are up one notch to a Yellow Level 1.0 or 1.5 rating; but an alarming 15 counties are now at an Orange Level 2.0 or 2.5 rating – that’s up from four counties, yesterday.  A Red Level 3.0 rating is the worst, denoting maximum spread of the coronavirus.
