Secretary of State: What does the office do?

Published on in Uncategorized

This week, Indiana Public Radio and Indiana Public Broadcasting will be discussing the Secretary of State’s race, ahead of the November 2nd election.

The Indiana Secretary of State is the third highest elected office in the state.  For the first time in eight years it’s an open race on the November ballot.  It’s also the highest state office up for grabs, which gives it extra political weight.  But despite all that, it’s not a race that’s foremost on the minds of voters. Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Micah Schweizer has this overview of the Secretary of State’s office.

Schweizer — Secretary of State Overview

Next, we’ll get to know the candidates for Indiana Secretary of State—Democrat Vop Osili and Republican Charlie White. We’ll also learn why the race is so important to Indiana’s Libertarian party.
