Dan Coats talks about Social Security in Evansville
Republican US Senate candidate Dan Coats addressed the issue of social security today in a lunchtime address to the Rotary Club in Evansville. Coats called social security the third rail of American politics. He proposes fixes to the system – like raising the eligibility age, changing how standard of living increases are calculated, or cutting back on benefits for the wealthy.
Coats also addressed the economy and federal spending levels. He called for a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, which would limit the federal government’s borrowing. Coats also supports tax reforms to make America more competitive in the global market. Coats’ Democratic opponent, Representative Brad Ellsworth, will address the Evansville Rotary Club next week.
