Second Harvest Food Bank gets donation from Walmart Foundation

Published on in Uncategorized

Second Harvest Food Bank has received a large donation from The Walmart Foundation, but it isn’t food.  Instead, the foundation has donated a refrigerated truck and $90,000 to the food bank that serves nearly 70,000 people eight east-central Indiana counties.  Second Harvest executive director Lois Rockhill says the food bank’s current trucks are older and heavily-used.  The new truck will help Second Harvest keep up a rigorous schedule delivering food to the food pantries it serves.  The $90,000 grant will pay for refrigeration and freezer units for 15 food pantries in the Second Harvest network.   Those pantries are located in New Castle, Muncie, Anderson, Marion, Redkey, and Elwood.
