Auto supplier to build plant and bring jobs to Anderson

A Honda parts supplier says it will build a new factory and bring more than 300 jobs to Madison County in the coming years.  Greenville Technology, Incorporated – known as GTI and headquartered in Ohio – supplies plastic components to Honda factories in North America.  Today, company officials announced its first Indiana facility will be built in Anderson near the Flagship Enterprise Center – a 150,000 square foot injection molding and assembly plant.  All told, the facility and its new workers will cost more than $21 million.  GTI Executive Vice President Bill LaFramboise says he had much to learn about Anderson before making the decision to build in the city.

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels helped make the announcement today.  He says when Honda chose to locate in Indiana, he knew even more jobs would follow.  GTI hopes to begin production in Anderson in 2013.  Its goal is to bring up to 325 jobs by 2016.

Muncie economic development officials also made a jobs announcement today.  Auto parts supplier Magna Powertrain will expand their plant on Cowan Road.  Company officials say its $11.8 million investment in real estate and equipment will bring 21 new jobs to Delaware County.
