Loaded gun found in Muncie Central High School student locker
Officials at Muncie Central High School say they found a loaded gun in a student’s locker during the school day today.
Ana Pichardo is the school’s Director of Communications. She says a freshman male student smelled of marijuana while in class, and school officials searched the student’s locker. In his backpack, they found marijuana and a loaded semi-automatic pistol. School officials then notified the Muncie Police Department. Muncie Community Schools Superintendent Tim Heller tells our news partner The Star Press that the student has been transferred to the Youth Opportunity Center.
Pichardo says other students were safe at all times during the school day. No emergency was declared in the building and classes continued as normal.
