Boar’s Head Brand meat processing plant locating in New Castle

A Florida-based meat and cheese supplier has announced it will build a meat processing plant in New Castle and bring about 200 jobs to the city. Boar’s Head Brand says it will build a new facility on County Road 400 South that is expected to open in the spring of 2016. The plant will process turkey, ham, and chicken.

In a statement, both Boar’s Head Brand president Michael Martella and Indiana Governor Mike Pence cite the state’s low-cost and low-tax environment for bringing the factory to Indiana. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is giving Boar’s Head Brand $2.2 million in conditional tax credits and $115,000 in job training grants.

Officials with Boar’s Head Brand say the company will begin hiring management associates next year through the New Castle WorkOne Center.
