Historic Kokomo Buildings to Get an Upstairs “Lift”

By Network Indiana | Published on in Uncategorized

(KOKOMO)- The City of Kokomo and Howard County Government have agreed to partner up in an effort to redevelop the upstairs of some downtown Kokomo‘s historic buildings. The effort is designed to redevelop the spaces for residential and commercial use and bring more people and businesses to downtown. The new Condo Incentive Plan aims to incentive building owners to rehab their unused space. A release from the city says that it’s not uncommon for owners to fill first floors with store space and convert upper floors for urban living. The city has an Upper Floor Conversion grant that provides $12,000 per building to owners looking to make the conversions.
