Muncie MusicFest to take center stage this Saturday

By Chelsea Scofield | Published on in Uncategorized

Muncie MusicFest will take over the Cornerstone Center for the Arts Saturday when 30 local bands play on six stages.

“I thought that it would be the best use of our resources to put together a festival that highlights what a great music community we have,” said MusicFest codirector Graham Watson. “It puts people in front of bands they may not have known of before and puts bands in front of people that they may not have been able to reach before. It breaks down socio-economical barriers.”

Admission is free and food trucks will be available for Phase 1 of the fest, which begins at 5 p.m.

Phase 2 starts at 10 p.m. when an additional 10 bands will play for the over 21 crowd at Be Here Now, The Acoustic Room, The Ballroom and The Fickle Peach.

Whether show goers prefer rock, folk, hiphop, electronica, heavy metal, punk or bluegrass, they will find music to enjoy. The fest features bands such as The Bashville Boys, Cytomorph, Focuss, Hell Came Home, The Indigos, and Scaling Giants.

“Everyone who goes, if they really explore the festival and not just the bands they might be familiar with, is guaranteed to discover things that they didn’t know was being produced here in Muncie, perhaps whole musical genres that they didn’t know they got into,” Watson said. “I think everyone should go because they are guaranteed to have a good time if they like live music.”
