Fort Wayne Health Officials Hoping for Needle Exchange Program

By Network Indiana | Published on in Uncategorized

(FORT WAYNE) – The Allen County Department of Health reports the number of new STD cases had increased last year from the number the year before. According to the Journal Gazette, there were 23 new cases of HIV in 2015 compared to only 18 in 2014. Likewise, there were almost 400 cases of Hepatitis C in 2015, while in 2014 there were only around 250. Because both can be transmitted by sharing drug needles, the Director of STD Prevention is pushing officials to set up a needle exchange program.
