Concern Expressed Over Lead Exposure in Madison County
(ANDERSON) — Madison County is one of the five worst counties in the state when it comes to the rate of kids battling lead poisoning. Mike Mettler with the Indiana Department of Health says it’s because the houses there are of a certain age. A number of houses were built before 1978, when lead paint was banned. Of the 7,400 kids under the age of four in Madison County, 725 were tested for lead exposure. Of that group, 78 tested positive.
