(STATEHOUSE) – The Department of Child Services is taking a hard look at its vetting processes. It is because the DCS accidentally hired a white supremacist. Matthew Heimbach was hired January 11th, but then fired just over two weeks later after his coworkers found video of Heimbach speaking at a white supremacist rally. Senator Tim Lanane says it’s important that anybody working for DCS is of high character, and not just for the sake of the children.
