GOP Will Try to Reintroduce Gov. Pence’s Regional Cities Funding

By Network Indiana | Published on in Uncategorized

(STATEHOUSE) — Republicans will try to salvage one of Governor Pence’s signature programs next week. Legislators budgeted 84-million dollars for Pence’s Regional Cities Initiative, enough to fund coordinated development efforts in two regions of the state.

But the House so far appears unwilling to allow another 42-million to cover three regions instead of two. Some legislators are miffed that Pence announced a third recipient before getting the authorization for more money.

And Speaker Brian Bosma says it’s harder to win over lawmakers whose regions weren’t selected.
