Republic Airways Files for Chapter 11
(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indianapolis-based Republic Airways has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Chairman and CEO Bryan Bedford says the company “worked hard to avoid this step.” Republic has long struggled with financial troubles, a shortage of pilots and labor strife. In a prepared statement, Bedford says “any further delay would unnecessarily waste valuable resources.” The company says flight operations are normal. Republic employs about 6,000 people.
