Rubio Wins 6th Congressional District Straw Poll

The 19 counties of the 6th Congressional District held a straw poll on Saturday, regarding the 6th Congressional District’s US Senatorial and Presidential candidates. According to event organizer and moderator, Nate LaMar, the president of the Henry County Council, it was the first such event to take place in Indiana following the Feb. 5 candidacy filing deadline. A senatorial candidates’ forum was also held.  Rush County Republican Chairman Michael Dora hosted the event at Rushville Consolidated High School’s auditorium.

54 Precinct Committee people were the only ones of the 150 attendees eligible to vote in the straw poll.

Marco Rubio finished first with 41.5% of the vote. Donald Trump finished second with 24.5%. Ted Cruz was third at 20.7% of the straw poll vote. Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Jeb Bush,             John Kasich, and Rand Paul all finished in that order, in single digits

Results of the US Senatorial Straw Poll, which took place after the US Senatorial Candidates’ Forum, were:  Marlin Stutzman (40.7%), Todd Young (31.5%), Eric Holcomb (27.8%).
