BSU MBB Accepts Bid to Play in CollegeInsider.com Tournament
The Ball State men’s basketball Cardinals are off to post-season play for the first time in 14 years. The Cards have accepted a bid to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).
Ball State plays a first-round game on the road next week. First-round games will be played March 14-16. Details will be worked out this week. No word yet on the opponent or venue. The program will be making its 12th overall post-season tournament appearance at the Division I level. The Cardinals have previously played in the NCAA Tournament seven times and the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) four times.
Ball State made one of the largest turnarounds in the country this season. The Cards come to the CIT with an overall record of 19-13, 10-8 in the Mid-American Conference West Division. They shared the MAC West Division championship with Central Michigan.
SIDEARM Sports will stream the first three rounds. The CBS Sports Network will nationally broadcast the semi-final and final rounds. 32 teams play in the eight-year old CIT. All games are played at campus sites. There is no pre-determined bracket. Next-round opponents are determined after the results of previous rounds.
