Pence to Appeal Federal Ruling on Syrian Refugee Support
(INDIANAPOLIS) – The governor loses the first round on the matter of re-settling Syrian refugees. A federal judge says Governor Pence cannot legally bar state agencies from providing federal pass-through money for refugee resettlement. Exodus Refugee Immigration of Indianapolis — at the time the only state agency re-settling refugees from Syria — had filed the lawsuit with help from the ACLU of Indiana. Pence issued a statement saying he would seek an immediate stay of the ruling from U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt pending an appeal.
