Senate Amendment Aims to Penalize Companies That Move From Indiana to Foreign Countries
(STATEHOUSE) – Members of Indiana’s Republican-dominated House of Representatives approved a Democratic amendment to a bill designed to penalize companies that move from Indiana to other countries. Attached to Senate Bill 308, the amendment passed by a vote of 60-34, and would allow local and state governments to prevent corporations that move to another country from continuing taking government-subsidized tax breaks and incentives. State Representative Karlee Macer, an Indianapolis Democrat, who’s district includes the Indianapolis Carrier plant, authored the amendment.
