48 years ago today, a presidential campaign visit may have saved Indianapolis from riots.

Robert Kennedy spoke to a packed Men’s Gymnasium crowd of around 7,000, here, at Ball State, just hours before his history making speech in Indianapolis.  He was told about Dr. King’s assassination at the Muncie airport, where he boarded a charter flight to Indianapolis.
