Road closing for train crossing upgrades in Muncie; upcoming repairs in Anderson

By Stephanie Wiechmann | Published on in Uncategorized

Beginning Tuesday, drivers on the Muncie Bypass will see traffic reduced to one lane on State Road 67 because of railroad and signal improvements.  INDOT says Norfolk-Southern Railway will upgrade crossing gates and signals at the train crossing between Cowan Road and Walnut Street.  The work is expected to take about two weeks.

INDOT is also planning three intersection and railroad projects in Anderson.  Already announced is a new traffic signal with a flashing yellow left-turn arrow at Scatterfield Road and 53rd Street.  Crews will also add new sidewalks and curb ramps at the railroad crossing near State Road 32 and John Street.  And a concrete center median will be added near two CSX crossings on Scatterfield Road and Mounds Road.  INDOT spokesman Nathan Riggs did not give a timeline on when the Anderson improvements will begin.
