Rookie Driver Alexander Rossi Wins 100th Indianapolis 500
A crowd believed to be in excess of 350,000 saw rookie driver Alexander Rossi win the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, Sunday. He is the first rookie to win the 500 since Helio Castroneves in 2001. Rossi started the race in 11th position and ran out of fuel on his victory lap. Rossi’s Andretti Autosport teammate Carlos Munoz, finished second. Josef Newgarden took third, followed by Tony Kanaan in fourth, and fifth-place Charlie Kimball.
