Brevini Wind Division shutting down
The Brevini Wind Division will halt operations in Delaware county on August 31st.
The Star Press reports the wind turbine gearbox maker will let around 20 Wind Division workers go. The positions include machinists, quality control and computer control operators. They will either move to other industries or lose their jobs. Workers losing their jobs will get severance packages. The company will work with other industries and the state’s Department of Workforce Development to help those workers get jobs.
Delaware county will be repaid by Brevini because the company did not meet employment projections. The money was granted to help develop the business. Brevini said 410 jobs would be created. Brevini’s president Brian Richardson said the county will receive $800,000 next spring. Last year Brevini paid $375,000 in penalties for failing to meet hiring projections.
Richardson said Brevini USA will stay and keep operating. That portion of the company employs more than 40 workers. Brevini USA will operate under the One Brevini banner in the Park One/332 business park, adjacent to the Brevini Wind plant. Brevini USA is a subsidiary of Brevini Group’s Power Transmission business unit.
