A Republican state senator wants to bring a casino – and hundreds of jobs – to Terre Haute.  Rising Star Casino sits along the Ohio River in the small town of Rising Sun, about three hours from Terre Haute.  State Senator Jon Ford says the resort is only using about half of the gaming positions allowed by its license.  He’s proposing a bill that would clear the way to move some of those unused games to Terre Haute.

He estimates a Terre Haute casino would bring more than 1,200 jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue to the area.  But Ford admits that the proposal will be a “heavy lift” to get through the legislature.
