Mapping Black History In Muncie

As March rolls in, we close out the short month of February, which has been designated Black History Month since the mid-1970’s.  But civic organizations have been celebrating black culture in February since 1926.  Each community in the US has decades of stories to tell.  In Muncie this year, geographers turned to maps to highlight black history in Indiana.  IPR’s Nick Siano reports.

One map, provided here, shows Indiana locations in a “green book” meant to keep black travelers safe on the road.
