Muncie’s two former Marsh stores now owned by a Kroger subsidiary will open under the Pay Less name, the company has confirmed today.

Kroger owns Pay Less stores in Anderson, Lafayette, and West Lafayette.  In a statement, Kroger says adding the Pay Less banner in Muncie follows that tradition.

The company has not said when its 11 former Marsh stores will re-open.  It does say a “traditional renovation” may take six to eight months.

Kroger says it will spend more than $20 million on renovating the buildings.  Teams are evaluating all the properties and have to first address deferred maintenance – like roof issues – before renovating the buildings.

Under its subsidiary Topvalco, Kroger bought 11 Marsh stores, mainly in Muncie, Bloomington, and the Indianapolis area.
