Letterman Donations Adding Up
David Letterman, one of Ball State University’s most famous graduates, has made another donation to the school: all 15 Emmy awards he won as host of “Late Night” on NBC and “Late Show” on CBS.
Philip Repp, Dean of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University, says the Letterman family began donating Dave’s items to the school in 2015.
“We’re bringing in consultants and experts as we look at each of these items and try to understand what we have,” Repp said.
Letterman’s family has given the school about 1,000 items so far.
Some of the items include Letterman’s desk and chairs from the “Late Show”, clothing and jackets he wore on the show, and the side panels of the marquee that hung outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City where the show was filmed.
Letterman graduated from Ball State in 1969.
