Marsh No More: Markets To Be Rebranded

The Marsh Supermarket brand will soon be gone for good.  As IPR’s Stephanie Wiechmann reports, a company that purchased some of the former Indiana Marsh stores will rename the markets under a completely new brand.

This fall, customers in towns like Elwood, Tipton, and Pendleton will be shopping at Marsh stores for the last time.  By the middle of September in advertisements and by the end of October on the buildings themselves, the grocery stores will carry the name Needler’s Fresh Market.

The name “Needler” comes from Fresh Encounter CEO Michael Needler, Jr and his business partner and sister, Julie.  Ohio-based Fresh Encounter bought 11 Marsh stores in Indiana and four in Ohio at a June bankruptcy auction.  Almost all the stores will be rebranded as Needler’s.  One in Van Wert, Ohio will be changed to another Fresh Encounter brand, Chief Supermarket.

In a statement, Fresh Encounter says customers “can expect a clean, fresh look.”  The company says the stores will focus on sourcing fresh produce locally and in-store made bakery and deli items.
