Vice President Mike Pence’s older brother Greg signaled this week he’s likely to make a run for Congress next year.

Greg Pence filed a document with the Internal Revenue Service establishing a political organization – Greg Pence for Congress. Pence, the older brother of Vice President Mike Pence, has said he’s considering a run for Indiana’s 6th Congressional District since current Rep. Luke Messer (R-Greensburg) announced his run for the U.S. Senate earlier this year.

Pence, who owns antique malls in the state, would join an increasingly crowded GOP primary that includes state Sen. Michael Crider (R-Greenville), Muncie small business owner Jonathan Lamb, and Fortville businessman Stephen MacKenzie.

Columbus native Pence has never run for office before, though most recently he’s been part of Luke Messer’s Senate campaign team.

Indiana’s 6th Congressional district, in the eastern part of the state, stretches from Muncie down to Columbus and Madison. It was held by Mike Pence for 12 years before he ran for governor in 2012.
