Anderson’s Mounds Mall is closing at the end of the month.  The Herald Bulletin reports the owners of the mall, the Cook family, said yesterday the last day of operations will be March 31st.  The mall opened in January of 1965.  Cook family spokesperson Jonathan Cook said simple economics was the reason for the closure.  Anchor tenant Carson’s department store closed earlier this year.  Cook said both the Tavel optometry office and the Mounds 10 Theatre would remain open as they have exterior entrances. The Anderson mall was the first fully enclosed mall in Indiana.
