Higher Premiums Coming Next Year For Hoosiers On ACA Marketplace

Hoosiers who buy insurance on the Marketplace established by the Affordable Care Act can expect higher premiums next year. The two insurance companies offering plans filed their 2019 rates this week. Care Source and Celtic (MHS) have asked for the maximum increases allowed. Individual marketplace plans will increase by an average five percent overall. All Indiana counties will have plan options, but 13 counties will only have one marketplace option. Supporters of the ACA say Republican efforts to undermine the law have led to increased rates. Those opposed to the law say the higher rates prove the law isn’t working.
