Ball State University President Geoff Mearns updated IPR listeners on Morning Edition, Tuesday morning on progress with the university’s management of the Muncie Community Schools (MCS).

Ball State was granted authority by the Indiana General Assembly via House Enrolled Act 1315 to appoint a school board for the system, and to assist with various operational aspects of the financially troubled system.  The university’s involvement with MCS started last July 1.

Morning Edition Host Stan Sollars questioned Mearns on a variety of topics including MCS’s enrollment, facilities, funding, and teacher pay.
