Holcomb Officially Launches 2020 Re-election Campaign
Gov. Eric Holcomb leaned heavily into basketball references as he launched his re-election bid Saturday at the Hoosier Gym, where the movie “Hoosiers” filmed.
Holcomb’s campaign kicked off with a new slogan: Putting People First.
The Republican officeholder seeks to center his campaign on individual success stories that match up with his priorities as governor.
“It’s their stories that speak to the generosity, the compassion and the policies of Eric Holcomb that are making a difference in Hoosiers’ lives,” says Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Holcomb’s running mate.
Holcomb touted past accomplishments – workforce development, tackling the opioid epidemic, and infrastructure investments – while looking forward with an emphasis on improving infant mortality, the Department of Child Services, and job training for inmates.
“We are exactly, exactly what the entrepreneurs and the career creators are craving,” Holcomb says.
Holcomb officially begins his re-election bid with a sizeable financial advantage, more than $6 million in his campaign war chest.
