The about 1,000 residents of the town of Lynn in Randolph County are being asked to drink bottled water Wednesday afternoon, because the town water supply is dry.

The Randolph County Emergency Management Agency announced on Twitter that water service has been stopped in Lynn because of a leak in the town’s water tower.  The leak wasn’t found until the tower ran dry.

As it’s the first day of school for students at Randolph Southern School Corporation, Lynn parents on Facebook say their children were given bottled water to drink.  They say they were told there was enough water in the town’s system to allow for bathroom access, but that water wasn’t drinkable.

Around 3:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, the county agency said the leak has been located, but a repair crew can’t get to Lynn and fix the leak until “late tonight.”
