New numbers in an annual study on the most affordable places to buy and own a home in Indiana has highlighted several IPR-area cities and towns.  Alexandria tops the Indiana list by SmartAsset, and ranks 9^th nationally on the company’s survey.

The study, in its sixth year, takes into account the annual average mortgage payment and median income of a place, as well as average closing costs, property taxes, and homeowners insurance.  The company says it gives a picture of buying and owning a home for a five-year period.

As the top Hoosier locale, Alexandria scores nearly a 75 out of 100 on the company’s affordability index.
