The city of Muncie is receiving $4.6 million in federal funds to repave and improve two major roads in the city.

Tillotson Avenue from Kilgore Avenue to McGalliard Road will get an upgrade.  Two sections of McGalliard will also be improved – the first from Tillotson to Wheeling Avenue and the second  from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the I-67 Bypass.

The money comes from the Federal Highway Administration and is awarded through the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Muncie officials say the work is not scheduled to begin until fiscal year 2026.

UPDATE:  This story has been updated to reflect the delayed beginning of the road repairs.
