More than 3,000 athletes will compete in two distance athletic events near Muncie, Saturday.  Ironman Indiana and Ironman 70.3 Muncie, in southeastern Delaware County each include biking, swimming and running.

Area motorists will see delays and detours. The best advice is to avoid the area around Prairie Creek Reservoir.  The bicycle course begins at the reservoir, and heads southeast on Highway 35, then north on State Road 1 to Highway 36, then back to the reservoir.  Both Ironman Indiana and Ironman 70.3 Muncie will use the same route.

Event officials say with more athletes and a longer course some competitors will still be cycling as late as 6 p.m., Saturday, and some runners could still be out as late as the early hours past midnight, Sunday morning.
