Earlier this week an Indianapolis TV station reported charges against Vauhxx Booker had been dropped, after the former Bloomington activist completed a restorative justice process – which is similar to mediation.

The story was picked up by the Associated Press, and has been shared by news organizations across the state.
According to Sonia Leerkamp, the prosecutor overseeing the case, Booker’s nearing the end of his restorative justice process, while the two other men aren’t far behind.

But it’s not over.

Plus, the judge overseeing the case stepped down in February, so he could run for Johnson County Prosecutor.  So the Lake Monroe cases can’t be decided until the Indiana Supreme Court chooses a replacement. The two sides will also likely have to make some sort of public statements on how restorative justice helped them come to a conclusion.

Once that happens, all charges can be dropped.
