Delays at the federal level with student financial aid packages has Ball State University extending its enrollment confirmation deadline for the next school year that begins in August.

In a statement, Ball State says it will extend the deadline from May 1 to June 1.

Back in January, the US Department of Education said it wouldn’t send student financial data from the form called the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to schools until the first half of March, more than a month later than previously announced.

Universities need that information to calculate financial aid offers for accepted students that are the key to college for more than 17 million students nationally.

Ball State says that delay has resulted in the postponement of the formulation of financial aid packages.

Now the university says it will begin sending financial aid award letters to accepted students in mid-to-late April.
