A Muncie factory making stamped metal parts has told the state it is permanently closing, taking with it 62 jobs.

North American Stamping Group on 8th Street has filed required paperwork with the state to say it is closing on November 30.

The company – with many locations across the US, Mexico, and Canada – took over the former Duffy Tool building in 2009.  Its parts are used in the automotive industry, to mitigate what’s called “noise, vibration, and harshness” in vehicles.

Earlier this month, North American Stamping Group said in a statement that it would consolidate work from its Muncie and Bryan, Ohio locations to other facilities in Ohio and Tennessee.  The company says it needs to “maximize our capacity” and improve productivity to “remain cost competitive.”

According to that closure notice, the factory will not be providing severance or continuing emergency health benefits to its workers when it closes.
