Democrat State Representative Sue Errington has won her sixth re-election bid for the state legislature. IPR’s Daniel Huber reports.

“I feel great!,” said Errington on Tuesday night at a local watch party.  “I’ve been in for 12 years, so I must be doing something right.”

Errington is one of the only IPR-area Democrats to win a race on Tuesday night.  Part of the reason could be a divide within the county Democratic party.

“So many good candidates could have won, could have done better if we had all been together, but unfortunately were not. But maybe we will again in the future. I hope this is a low point.”

Errington says one of the things she’ll do in the legislature is continue to push back on Indiana’s near-total abortion ban.

“I know that a lot of Hoosiers would like to be able to vote on it themselves, and so that’s something I have supported, and we’ll continue to do in legislation.”
