Anderson University has chosen its next president, which will begin his tenure this summer. But, as IPR’s Stephanie Wiechmann reports, he’ll have some unique on-the-job training first.
Last year, Anderson University President John Pistole announced he’d be retiring on June 1, 2025, after 10 years leading the Church of God-affiliated liberal arts school.
Now, Anderson University has chosen Scott Moats to succeed him, becoming the sixth president.
Most recently, Moats was adjunct faculty at Bethel University. He’s earned several degrees over the years, including a theological degree from Alliance Theological Seminary in New York and a PhD from the University of Minnesota. He’s a native of Nebraska.
But before beginning the work as president, Moats will serve as the university’s chief operating officer from March until June.
In announcing Moats, Anderson University highlighted his work in “fiscal management, risk assessment, and programmatic innovation.”
In a statement, Moats says he’s inspired by AU’s “century-long commitment to Christ-centered education” and developing Christian leaders.
