Muncie drivers should prepare for construction to begin again on Tillotson Avenue.

Indiana Michigan Power, which is replacing an “underground duct bank” and underground cabling, says active construction with lane restrictions will begin again early this month.  It will last until late October.

The Muncie mayor’s office asked the company to remove lane restrictions while crews weren’t able to work this winter.  Now crews will begin again.  The company says this will include weeks of “underground wire work,” which may not be visible from the road’s surface.

Indiana Michigan Power says the project will require shifting single and double-lane restrictions on mostly northbound lanes, but occasionally also southbound lanes.  Major construction will be between West Riverside Avenue and West Euclid Avenue.

Then the company will partially repave Tillotson Avenue’s northbound lane and make fixes to the southbound sidewalk.  It says the city of Muncie has scheduled a full repaving of the road sometime in 2026.

Previously, Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour has said the city was waiting until the road construction was finished to repave the heavily traveled road.
