At a 2025 town hall in Muncie, Spartz blamed the current state of Congress, which she nearly left in 2024, on Democrats.
“There is no bipartisanship right now because of President Trump. Democrats don’t want to work with us. That is sad, that’s a sad reality,” she said.

J.D. Ford
Democrats nominated State Rep. J.D. Ford, who beat out six others in the primary. Ford is in his second term representing Senate District 29 in the General Assembly, first elected in 2018. He is the first openly LGBTQ+ person to serve in the Statehouse.
He says some of his priority issues include affordability, government reform, and healthcare.
On election night, Ford said “They want someone who [can] walk in on day one and start pulling all the levers of government to hold this administration and everyone else accountable.”
The district covers Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Howard, Madison, and Tipton counties.
