Richard Hunt’s Daphne’s Defense (2020) reimagines the myth of Daphne as a symbol of protection and resilience, linking her transformation into a tree with the global struggle for safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. With organic bronze forms and richly textured surfaces, the sculpture reflects both mythological escape and modern perseverance.
