September 2023: George and Ira Get Jazzed

Listen

This month, we’re celebrating the 125th anniversary of George Gershwin’s birth and including brother Ira as the two made up one of the most successful Broadway musical teams of all time. Over the two hours, you’ll hear classic jazz artists interpret the Gershwin Songbook, including a number of rare recordings from the 1920s and ‘30s. In our first hour, we’ll hear early versions of the duo’s work, and in our second hour, we’ll feature more contemporary artists.
